Sheryl Hager

Professor Sheryl Hager, Shichidan, has been a student of Danzan Ryu for 52 years, beginning her training with her mother and father, Jane and Jim Dean, in May, 1966 at the Redding JuJItsu Academy. She was awarded her black belt at the age of 17. In 2012, Prof Hager was awarded the rank of 7th degree black belt. She has studied a wide range of other martial arts, including Parker’s Kenpo, Tai Chi, and Shotokan Karate.

Professor Hager formed the Hale O Lima Martial Arts Center in Sacramento in 1984 and continues to instruct special classes in the Sacramento, CA area. She is a Certified Massage Therapist in Danzan Ryu Restorative Therapy and has served as an assistant instructor in the American Judo & Jujitsu Federation (AJJF) Massage Program. Currently, she is a member of the AJJF Board of Professors and serves as the Secretary and Co- Administrator of Internal Relations. She teaches jujitsu in seminars nationwide and has also taught empowering seminars in women’s awareness and defense through Kaiser Permanente and WEAVE in the Sacramento area. She continues to provide self-defense seminars in the Redding, CA area.
