Biography:

Shihan Sarah Ludden began training in 1980 with the late Professor Coleen Gragen at Hand to Hand Kajukenbo in Oakland, CA. She was awarded 5th degree black belt in 2002. In 1990, she began studying Seido Karate, and achieved the rank of 6th degree black belt in 2020. Shihan Sarah co-directed Thousand Waves Martial Arts & Self- Defense Center, NFP with her partner Nancy Lanoue from 1990 until she retired from that position in 2021. The Center, committed to promoting fitness, healing, empowerment and peace making, is now run by the next generation - a dedicated professional staff and talented volunteers, nurtured by a diverse and vibrant community of students.

Sarah is a member of AWMAI, NWMAF, and PAWMA and has taught many times at the conferences and camps for these organizations.

She has also designed multiple programs for children, martial arts performance choreography and created the Thousand Waves Peacemaker Award.
