About the AWMAI - board members
Karma Yoakem has been training in martial arts since 2003 and has been participating in NWMAF and AWMAI conferences regularly since that time. She is a member of NWMAF and a lifetime member of AWMAI. She has co-produced two martial arts seminars in Houston. Karma is currently training in Chayon Ryu under Grandmaster Kim Soo and Master Sean Kim in Houston, Texas.
Karma brings her 20 years of experience as a professional corporate trainer, past business owner, and chronic volunteer for non-profit organizations to the Financial Coordinator position. Her experience with volunteer organizations includes co-producing two national conferences, being a member or consultant to several Boards of Directors, and participation in countless fundraisers and events.
She has been active in advocacy and social service programs for women, children, and teens. Karma was integral to the founding of a women's shelter staffed by volunteers, and became its first Director. Her professional training experience includes college instruction, CPR and First Aid training for the American Red Cross, blood-borne pathogen instruction, and medical software applications.
