Marion was promoted to first degree black belt in Chidokwan Karate in 1989. She earned her fourth degree in 2002. She is also ranked at Shodan in Hakkoryu Jujutsu. She serves as Alfred State College’s Karate Club Advisor and instructor and as which oversees all club functions, manages the budget and expenditures, organizes seminars and travels with both beginner and advanced martial arts classes at Alfred. She has developed a self-defense seminar for women and men with an emphasis on verbal skills, rape prevention, awareness and assertiveness training. She is a member of the Alfred State College Rape Assault Team; she is a member and Financial Coordinator of the Women Martial Arts Instructors; and a member of National Women’s Martial Arts Federation
