Sifu Barbara Feldman

I have trained in the martial arts for over thirty years and hold a fourth degree black belt in Ai Mute Shotokan Karate under Sensei Jaye Spiro and a first degree black belt in Tozan-Ryu Shindokan Karate.  I have been training in Tai Chi Chuan and various forms of qigong for twenty-six years and Ba Gua for more than ten years.  I have certifications in the following areas: Evidence Based Taijiquan Instructor Cert, Dr. Yang Yang, Center for Taiji Studies; 3rd level DaoYin Yangzheng Gong, Prof Zhang Guang De, Beijing Sports University; Five Elements Medical Qigong, Karl Ardo, Certified Medical Qigong Instructor.

Fifteen years ago I opened Blue Heron Martial and Healing Arts where I teach Ai Mute Shotokan karate, Tai Chi Chuan, Ba Gua, and Qigong.   I have been a guest instructor from New York to Florida.  I am a lifetime member of NWMAF, and a former Secretary of the Steering Committee and Chair of the Awards Committee.

As a martial artist, I most value two areas.  The first is connecting in practice Ai Mute Shotokan with internal martial arts.  The second area I value is my own path of deepening my practice, one day at a time, a path towards wholeness. The martial arts continue to inform my life, keep me more flexible, stronger, healthier, more peaceful and joyful.
